Independence, Missouri

Day 4: (July 12, 2009)

We woke up this morning to a down pour of rain. But we didn't let the rain slow us down. We loaded the car up, grabbed some breakfast on the road and drove to Independence, MO. We were able to visit the LDS Visitor Center here. When we left the visitor center we stopped for lunch and then continued on to Liberty, MO where we visited Liberty Jail. After visiting the jail we journeyed on to Far West and then on into Tom Sawyer Country in Hannibal, MO. It was evening time when we got to Hannibal and we were all so tired & hungry that we just wanted to eat and go to sleep.

The Fun Begins...

Day 3: (July 11, 2009)

We got up this morning and Tami fixed us pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon for us to eat before we continued on our journey. This was by far the best continental breakfast we had on our trip. After breakfast we loaded up the car and headed to Branson, MO. We got in Branson and decided we better get busy and do some stuff because we only had the afternoon and evening to play. We found our hotel and checked in. Then we went to an out-let mall and did some shopping. After our shopping spree we visited the wax museum. Then it was off to dinner and to the Jim Stafford Show. The show was great! Jim Stafford was hilarious and had us laughing so hard.

I would love to come back to Branson someday and enjoy more of the shows and festivities offered here.

Catchin' Up...more of July 2009

I have been a slacker on this bloggin' thing. So I am playing catch up today.

Day 1: The Journey Begins (July 9, 2009)
Left NM bright and early at 5:45am and drove all day to Garden City, KS. Garden City isn't exciting place, nothing to do there. So we got our hotel room, had dinner and went to bed so we could get up and drive some more the next day.

Day 2: (July 10, 2009)

We traveled through the state of Kansas up to Independence. We spent the afternoon and evening here. We stayed at Mary's nieces house. We had visiting and playing Rock Band on the Wii.

Stadium of Fire!

My summer fun began on Saturday July 4th. That morning me and my two nieces, Brittany and Kourtni left for Utah. We traveled to Provo and got their early that afternoon. That evening we went to BYU Stadium and watched the Stadium of Fire. It was great, as usual. I go every year and it just seems to get better every year. This year the entertainers were SheDaisy and The Jonas Brothers. SheDaisy was awesome. I really enjoyed them and I like their music. I’m not a Jonas Brothers fan but they did do an okay show and I even knew one of their songs…..hahaha. Of course the song was “Sweet Caroline” a remake of a Neil Diamond song and I do have to say that Neil Diamond still performs it better. On Sunday morning we got up and drove to Sandy and spent the day with my sister Lisa. That was fun being able to spend time and talk with her. Monday morning we drove back to Provo and dropped Kourtni off at BYU so she could attend a “Speed and Power Camp” at BYU. Then Brittany and I headed back home to New Mexico. It was a fast trip to Utah but it was fun and the fireworks were amazing. It was a great kick-off to a summer of fun…

Update...

It has been sometime since I've last posted on here. I kind of forgot about my blogspot...oops. So here is an update of what's been going on and what is coming up.

Last April--my friend Mary and I drove to SLC for General Conference and we were able to attend the Saturday Morning Session. It was so much fun. I have never attended conference before in SLC and it was totally awesome. When President Monson walked into the conference center it became so quiet. There were 1000's of people and you couldn't hear anyone speak. It was just too cool. I can't even explain the feeling I had. But I do know that I want to go to SLC again for conference sometime. And of course besides attending conference we also got some shopping in and some playing. But, Mary and I always, always have fun when we go to Utah.

On May 28th I was in another car accident. I couldn't believe it. I was sitting at the one and only stop light in Kirtland. The guy behind me was stopped but the guy behind him didn't know that RED means STOP. So we had a lovely 3 car accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt. It is easier to fix cars than people. This I do know!!! Luckily the guy who caused the accident had insurance. But I am still waiting for the part to come in to fix my car. I can drive it, but the bumper sure is ugly. My neck and shoulders and lower back were sore for a few days so tylenol was my best friend.

School is out but I'm still working. We are having Extended School Year for Special Ed Students at the school I work at. So I will be there untilJune 30th. Then I have the month of July off! :D And vacation time, here I come.

Mary and I leave July 9th to go back east. We are going to take Mary's mom, Sharon and 2 of her great nieces, Mylee and Sydney. We are going to hit some church and U.S. Historical Sites plus we are going to Niagara Falls, Canada. And I can hardly wait. I am so excited to get out of New Mexico and go on a vacation. I plan on taking lots of pictures and hopefully I'll remember to post them here.

I promise....I am safe and capable of driving....

Let me tell ya.....the last few weeks have been FRUSTRATING!!! My drivers license expired on Feb. 28th. And I have been trying to get it renewed for the last 3 weeks. Somehow, the motor vehicle department has it in their computers that I have no legs and am neither capable or safe to drive. I have no legs, yet I walked into the MVD...I told them that I just didn't sprout new legs, duh!! Finally after talking to them for a few hours I finally convinced them that I have legs. Now they tell me that I have prosthetics. Oh brother!!!

Anyways, my doctors office and myself have been calling Santa Fe for the last 2 weeks trying to get this mess straightened out. Well, I finally got a phone number today and got through to a real person and not a recording. They called my doctor's office and things are looking up. I have legs again and can drive. I'm off Thursday to the MVD to get my license! =]...woot! woot!
