But we didn't let the rain slow us down. We loaded the car up, grabbed some breakfast on the road and drove to Independence, MO. We were able to visit the LDS Visitor Center here. When we left the visitor center we stopped for lunch and then continued on to Liberty, MO where we visited Liberty Jail. After visiting the jail we journeyed on to Far West and then on into Tom Sawyer Country in Hannibal, MO. It was evening time when we got to Hannibal and we were all so tired & hungry that we just wanted to eat and go to sleep.

The Fun Begins...

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9RJtz47DyZw/S3mE74B0K_I/AAAAAAAAAB4/4XRlu4vEfjk/s200/Branson-Wax+Museum-July+11,+2009+(11).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5438524189213731826" />
Day 3: (July 11, 2009)

We got up this morning and Tami fixed us pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon for us to eat before we continued on our journey. This was by far the best continental breakfast we had on our trip. After breakfast we loaded up the car and headed to Branson, MO. We got in Branson and decided we better get busy and do some stuff because we only had the afternoon and evening to play. We found our hotel and checked in. Then we went to an out-let mall and did some shopping. After our shopping spree we visited the wax museum. Then it was off to dinner and to the Jim Stafford Show. The show was great! Jim Stafford was hilarious and had us laughing so hard.

I would love to come back to Branson someday and enjoy more of the shows and festivities offered here.

Catchin' Up...more of July 2009

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_9RJtz47DyZw/S3mCutbasJI/AAAAAAAAABw/bPRslVGuz7k/s200/Independence+KS-July+10,+2009.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5438521764006768786" />
I have been a slacker on this bloggin' thing. That morning me and my two nieces, Brittany and Kourtni left for Utah. We traveled to Provo and got their early that afternoon. That evening we went to BYU Stadium and watched the Stadium of Fire. It was great, as usual. I go every year and it just seems to get better every year. This year the entertainers were SheDaisy and The Jonas Brothers. SheDaisy was awesome. I really enjoyed them and I like their music. I’m not a Jonas Brothers fan but they did do an okay show and I even knew one of their songs…..hahaha. Of course the song was “Sweet Caroline” a remake of a Neil Diamond song and I do have to say that Neil Diamond still performs it better. On Sunday morning we got up and drove to Sandy and spent the day with my sister Lisa. That was fun being able to spend time and talk with her. Monday morning we drove back to Provo and dropped Kourtni off at BYU so she could attend a “Speed and Power Camp” at BYU. Then Brittany and I headed back home to New Mexico. It was a fast trip to Utah but it was fun and the fireworks were amazing. It was a great kick-off to a summer of fun…

Update...

It has been sometime since I've last posted on here. I kind of forgot about my blogspot...oops. So here is an update of what's been going on and what is coming up.

Last April--my friend Mary and I drove to SLC for General Conference and we were able to attend the Saturday Morning Session. It was so much fun. I have never attended conference before in SLC and it was totally awesome. When President Monson walked into the conference center it became so quiet. There were 1000's of people and you couldn't hear anyone speak. It was just too cool. I can't even explain the feeling I had. But I do know that I want to go to SLC again for conference sometime. And of course besides attending conference we also got some shopping in and some playing. But, Mary and I always, always have fun when we go to Utah.

On May 28th I was in another car accident. I couldn't believe it. I was sitting at the one and only stop light in Kirtland. The guy behind me was stopped but the guy behind him didn't know that RED means STOP. So we had a lovely 3 car accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt. It is easier to fix cars than people. This I do know!!! Luckily the guy who caused the accident had insurance. But I am still waiting for the part to come in to fix my car. I can drive it, but the bumper sure is ugly. My neck and shoulders and lower back were sore for a few days so tylenol was my best friend.

School is out but I'm still working. We are having Extended School Year for Special Ed Students at the school I work at. So I will be there untilJune 30th. Then I have the month of July off! :D And vacation time, here I come.

Mary and I leave July 9th to go back east. We are going to take Mary's mom, Sharon and 2 of her great nieces, Mylee and Sydney. We are going to hit some church and U.S. Historical Sites plus we are going to Niagara Falls, Canada. And I can hardly wait. I am so excited to get out of New Mexico and go on a vacation. I plan on taking lots of pictures and hopefully I'll remember to post them here.

I promise....I am safe and capable of driving....

Let me tell ya.....the last few weeks have been FRUSTRATING!!! My drivers license expired on Feb. 28th. And I have been trying to get it renewed for the last 3 weeks. Somehow, the motor vehicle department has it in their computers that I have no legs and am neither capable or safe to drive. I have no legs, yet I walked into the MVD...I told them that I just didn't sprout new legs, duh!! Finally after talking to them for a few hours I finally convinced them that I have legs. Now they tell me that I have prosthetics. Oh brother!!!

Anyways, my doctors office and myself have been calling Santa Fe for the last 2 weeks trying to get this mess straightened out. Well, I finally got a phone number today and got through to a real person and not a recording. They called my doctor's office and things are looking up. I have legs again and can drive. I'm off Thursday to the MVD to get my license! =]...woot! woot!

SNOWDOWN In Da Nile....

Yesterday my friend and I went to Durango CO. Well, we decided to go early and eat lunch, so we could get home before night time. The game plan was to go to Durango and go to Mutu's for lunch for some yummy Italian Food. When we got to the restaurant we found out that it didn't open until 5pm. So we had a few hours to kill before dinner time. We decided to walk around the streets of Durango. We didn't know that it was "SNOWDOWN WEEK" in Durango. I didn't even know what Snowdown Week was, but I soon learned. It was like Mardi Gras. The theme this year for Snowdown was an Egyptian Theme. People were walking the streets all dressed up in their "garb." There were lots of Cleopatra's and Pharoah's wandering around...it was absolutely crazy. People moved from one bar to another. Well, to make a long story short--Etta and I decided to go into The Lost Dog (yes, I went into a bar, there is a first for everything...LOL). My friend drinks so she ordered herself a margarita and I ordered a glass of water with a lemon in it. The bartender asked me if I was sure I didn't want anything else besides water. I told him, "No Thanks. Water is fine. I don't drink." He said, "Oh you must be the desiganted driver." "Something like that," I replied. Then my friend pipes up and says, "It's her birthday and she is drinking water." So of course the bartender asks my name and I tell him and he wishes me a happy birthday. Some "Cleopatra" in the bar overheard and yelled and said, "Hey everybody, it's Wendy's Birthday! Let's sing to her." The whole bar bursted out in a rendition of Happy Birthday. I felt like I was in the movie Top Gun with everyone in the bar singing to me.....LOL Then after the singing, everyone had to come and give me a hug. Total strangers hugging me. It was hilarious. I wish I had my camera so I could have gotten some pictures. People were making complete fools of themselves and probably woke up this morning not even remembering what they did the night before.

Holiday Madness.....

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_9RJtz47DyZw/SWGSmj3-qlI/AAAAAAAAABI/iMZxsPY79uI/s200/K-4+Ward+Christmas+Party+(53).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287668628672391762" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9RJtz47DyZw/SWGSTVop3jI/AAAAAAAAABA/3GE0IVA8iag/s320/DSCN0544.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5287668298432503346" />
.....Phew I made it through the holidays! =] Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. Mine was great. The week before Christmas I went to Utah. I went up to Layton and visited a couple of friends--Jen and Nancy. That was great fun. Jen and I hit Cafe Rios and it was so, so yummy as usual. Just wish we could get one in Farmington, NM....LOL. No such luck, I'm sure!!

On Thursday December 18th I was lucky enough to go to the Conference Center in Salt Lake City and see the church presentation, "Savior of The World." That alone was worth the trip to Utah. It was totally amazing. This was the perfect time of year to watch this production. A great way to remind one what the true meaning of Christmas really is and why we celebrate it.

On Saturday the 20th I had the privlidge of going to the temple to my cousin's wedding. Nikki you were absolutely beautiful. I am so happy for you and Monte.

And of course I can't forget mine and Shaylee's trip to Tucano's. That is both mine and Shay's favorite place to go. It was so much fun to go out with you Shay. Let me know the next time you're in UT. Maybe I can buzz up there too, then we can go out again...LOL Also, bring Shawn along next time, would really like to meet him somday...

Christmas was wonderful being able to spend time with family & friends. Christmas Day was great especially when everyone came over and we got to eat Mom's homemade Biscuits & Gravy. That is a family tradition... =]

I went over to my friend Mary's house on New Year's Eve. We watched movies, ate, played games, ate, talked, ate, laughed a lot, and ate some more. We had so much food that we could have fed the whole valley...

I got released from the nursery in church today and am now the new primary pianist. And oh man, I hit so many wrong notes today...it was sad. Guess I better go and get a primary songbook and learn the songs...

For 2009 I my new year's resolution is advice from President Hinckley...to "try a little harder to be a little better."

Hope the New Year treats you all wonderful and your dreams come true. ~Love to all of you~ Wendy =]

making lemonade...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 135px; height: 90px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9RJtz47DyZw/STTO-ZkSPEI/AAAAAAAAAAo/U6MvYLfE95Y/s320/lemonade.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5275068634967981122" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9RJtz47DyZw/STTMTTcfkJI/AAAAAAAAAAg/CNXKPuL-PgE/s200/Picture+161.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5275065695567057042" />
Wow---it’s hard to believe that 15 years ago tomorrow my life changed drastically.
It’s still hard to believe that I was in such a horrific accident. I was hit head on
by a *%^$! Drunk Driver…and spent 3 months in the hospital…..yuck! Sometimes
it feels like an eternity ago and other times it’s as recent as yesterday. I think of my injuries…. a head injury, nerve damage, internal injuries and lots of broken bones…I
never had a broken bone in my life until the accident…then I had to go set a record…lol.
Bones that I broke:

	Right Big Toe
	Top of my Left Foot in 2 Places
	Left Tibia
	Left Femur in 3 Places
	Right Femur in 2 Places
	Left Hip
	Pelvis in 4 Places
	Both Elbows

Good grief….that is 16 flippin’ bones all at one time---plus my left ankle and right wrist were shattered in 1,000’s of pieces. It totally amazes me at what the human body can go through and survive.

A couple of things that I have learned in the last 15 yrs…..I know that miracles happen today, and I’m one of them. The priesthood is real. There is no doubt of that. I wouldn’t be here today without it….I could go on and write a book but I won’t….don’t want to bore all of you who are reading this….but one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that sometimes in this ride we call life, we hit some speed-bumps and man do they ever hurt. But you gotta wipe the dirt off, get back up and keep going. Every one is gonna get handed a few lemons in life and when you get a lemon…..make lemonade. Because nothing beats a nice fresh squeezed glass of lemonade!

If you want some good lemonade here is my recipe. If you make it, give me a call and
I’ll come and join you for a glass…….LOL

3 cups lemon juice (approx. 20-22 lemons)
2 ¼ cups sugar
12 cups ice cold water

***Combine juice and sugar in a one-gallon container; stir until sugar is dissolved.
Pour in water and stir. Serve over ice.***

Thanksgiving 2008

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9RJtz47DyZw/SS8u1ZmfKDI/AAAAAAAAAAY/KmrSmYMrj5I/s320/Thanksgiving+2008+001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273485183614396466" />
Oh--The Thanksgiving Feast was wonderful!
